My Journey to forgiveness and peace
: My Journey to Forgiveness and Peace"
My name is Jummai Danlami, with Reg. No. NBC/2024/0825, and I’m an onsite student currently living at Bompai Police Barracks in Kano. I came to know about NBC through two inspiring people, Bro. Ephraim Andrew and Bro. John Micheal, who introduced me to a new path in life—one I desperately needed.
For as long as I can remember, anger has been a constant companion. Forgiveness was something I struggled with deeply. If I felt wronged, revenge felt like my only source of peace. It was a cycle I knew wasn’t healthy, yet I couldn’t break free from it. But then, something happened that sparked a desire to change.
I saw the lives of my brothers in Christ—a life of humility, respect, and a profound fear of the Lord. They radiated a kind of peace that I couldn’t quite grasp. I wanted that. I wanted the peace they had found. So, I enrolled at NBC, hoping it could help me find what I had been searching for.
Since then, everything has changed. All the things I used to struggle with—the anger, the need for revenge—are no more. I don’t act out of my own will anymore. Christ does everything through me now. He is my Savior, the one who died on the cross for me, my connection to God, because, as the Bible says, “no one comes to the Father except through me.”
This journey has given me a new conviction. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. I am fully convinced that the Holy Spirit guides me—showing me what to do and what not to do. I feel a peace I never thought possible.
I’ll never forget the day I embraced the exchange life—the day I died on the cross and let Christ take over. While sleeping that night, I saw a light, brighter than anything I had ever seen. In the center of that light was Jesus. He asked me, “Why are you burdening yourself with things that don’t matter?” Since that night, I kept having dreams about watering a beautiful garden, a symbol of the new life I am now nurturing in Him.
The burdens I once carried no longer weigh me down. I feel a joy and freedom that I want others to experience as well. My journey isn’t just for me; it’s a testimony I hope will inspire others to find the peace and love I’ve been blessed with in Christ.
