 My NBC Transformation"
My name is Genevieve Chisom Mmerigwo, and I am an onsite student at NBC, Kano. I first heard about NBC through Apostle Lucky A. Olufemi, and that encounter changed the trajectory of my faith.
Before NBC, my Christian life was just ordinary—a routine religious practice without a personal relationship with Christ. I rarely read my Bible, and when I did, it felt like a chore. My prayer life was inconsistent, and I often found myself consumed by fear and worry, especially when I wanted to pray. I was also very intuitive, using careless words without a second thought. It wasn’t until I listened to one of the sermons that I realized I needed more—a real relationship with Christ.
My motivation to enrol came after a one-on-one discussion with Apostle Lucky. I realized that the life I was living wasn’t enough. I needed to know Christ for myself, build a personal relationship with Him, and live a life that reflected His teachings. Once I joined the program, I discovered that the teachings were not just theoretical but deeply practical and applicable to daily life.
Now, my Christian experience has been transformed. I have a consciousness that Christ lives in me, and this changes everything. The things I once found comfortable no longer appeal to me. My prayer life has been rejuvenated—I’ve learned to pray with scriptural backing, finding relevant scriptures for my prayers, which gives me confidence and clarity. My speech has changed too; I am now mindful of the words I use and avoid insults or jesting.
I am also convinced that Christ lives in me and governs my life. I don’t need external validation to know how to live or what to believe. My faith is rooted in the Bible, and I now see it as the ultimate guide to life. Anything outside its teachings no longer holds significance for me.
The program has brought about many transformations in my life. My mindset has shifted—I no longer think or act as I used to. I’ve stopped being insulative and have learned to call myself to order when I falter. Reading the Bible is no longer stressful; instead, I read with understanding and joy. I now live with the consciousness that everything I do should please Christ, not people. Forgiveness has become easier, and I no longer harbour anger or grudges.
NBC has truly changed my life, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others. The journey has been life-changing, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow in my relationship with Christ.
